The Strong Museum, a study of play

King Joshua and his loyal subjects...

Before he was king, Prince Joshua had to take Cinderella to the ball.

Recognise the steps to the door? It's the exact replica from Sesame Street!

Having fun with some glass effect thingy...

price of rice goes up, price of apple goes down

These days, prices of everything seem to be heading up north. Rice and petrol have hit all time highs. But Apple has dropped their prices for iMacs. TMD! It was $2048 when I bought mine on 1st December. But now, it's going for $1888! And it's an 'improved' version of the iMac, according to the Apple website. Argh.... I am so angry.

Why can't Apple decrease the price of the item I want to buy (iPod Touch, 32GB, for those of u who wanna surprise me) instead of the item which I have already bought?!?!?

I should just spend my money on Rolexes and Vuitton. At least their prices won't drop.

the Hottest show on TV

It begins with the following words:
"Gossip girl here. Your one and only source to the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite."

And what happens next is 40 minutes of outragesness. Teenagers go to school in limousines and families live in $10,000 a night hotel suites when their $15 million penthouses are being renovated. It's a show where noone bats an eyelid when a girl, with 5 Vuitton luggages no less, stands at a heli-pad with a chopper waiting for her to take her to Paris so that she can escape from the being a rich, spoiled, petty, (and at the same time, pretty) teenager.

It's The OC, SATC, and a bit of High School Musical all rolled into one. And it's the most delicious show on TV now. Oh... being sinfully rich and pleasing to the eye does take away the pain of growing up in Manhattan.

Jap & Italiano meals over the weekend!

Had 2 good meals over the weekend. The first was at Sun Restaurant in CHIJMES. My main course was the Beef Sukiyaki. It was good. Beef was fresh,

broth was delicious... But what stood out wasn't my main course.

It was the appetizers! Had the salmon belly wrapped in soy skin (if I didn't remember wrongly) and topped with fish roe. It was heavenly! The soy skin was crisp and salmon belly melted in my mouth!

The next great appetizer was the fried king prawns in avocado cream sauce. Wah! Just delightful! (pity the $600 camera's auto focus was on the basket containing the parwns instead of the main dish itself..) I think I should have made a meal out of the appetizers! The next time, I'm ordering the teriayaki foie gras. Think it's $18 for 3 tiny delicate pieces, hope it'll be as good as those I ordered on Friday.

Then on Sat, I went down to Da Paolo and had their Duck liver and mushrooms pasta. It was a plate of heaven.

Cry baby cry

This is my goddaughter, crying for mommy.

Breaks my heart to see her cry, but she does look pretty in her white and lime green dress! Wished she could smile more, like the apple on her dress.

A nude photograph of France's First Lady is sold for US$91k.

Another nude by painter Lucian Freud is going for almost US$35 million, setting the record as the most expensive painting sold for a living painter.

2 nudes, 2 pictures, making news this week.

Thought of the day: You don't have to be pretty for your picture to be desirable.

round a corner

The thing about New York City is that everything is squeezed into the small island of Manhattan. To a non-New Yorker (and perhaps to New Yorkers themselves) you'll never know what to expect after you round a corner or cross a street.

Like walking from our hotel to Times Square. Poof, I found myself at the NY Headquarters of the Tom Cruise Church of Scientology! Nope. No sightings of Tom and his trophy, I mean wife, Katie.

Downtown Syracuse

As u can tell by now, it's been almost 3 weeks since I'm back and I'm still blogging about USA. Goes to show how exciting my life is in Singapore

Went to the historic Erie Canal part of Syracuse. This canal was once the main transport route from NYC to the interior of the country and is credited for enhancing NYC's expansion and growth through trade.

Now, the canal is largely unused. In winter, the canal freezes over and people ice skate on it!

So downtown Syracuse is not that bad when the weather is good and when you have a car. Like when I see something interesting, I can just hop out of the car to take a picture!

Dinosaur! The best restaurant I went to in Syracuse. I'm still dreaming of the pull pork and peanut butter cake!

One Windy Day

One Windy Day, we took a free ferry ride. Remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie and friends took the Staten Island Ferry, crossing water to judge the firemen? I took the same ferry! It's a free service that ferries the residents of Staten Island to Manhattan everyday. Works 24/7. Every hour, on the hour and every half hour during peak periods.

Don't be fooled by the bright sun, when the wind starts to blow, your fingers freeze and lose all feeling.

Crazy bunch of Chinese trying to take photos.

When the boat was docking. All the time spent in the morning doing my hair is gone to waste after the ferry ride....

Why are there so many tourists? It's not coz of Staten Island....

It's coz of this:

Flat Hair

Miss the USA. When I spike my hair there, it stays up the entire day. Humidity is so high in Singapore that my hair is perpetually flat.

Videos from America!

Took the time in the past few days to upload some videos online. Couldn't do it in the US coz the connection, whilst free, was intermittent and slow.

The following was shot at the foot of the Empire State Building. There were many fire trucks with their sirens blaring at the foot of the building. Everyone on the streets were looking up and pointing at while smoke emitting at the top floors. Don't know what was the cause of the alarm though. No reports in the news the next day...

This video shot outside the NYSE is rather funny. The place is rather quiet in the weekends. But come a working day, I'm sure its super packed.

The Grand Central Station is one of the most beautiful train stations I've ever seen. The ceiling reminds me something out of a Harry Potter movie. It's shows the zodiac creatures in the constellation.
