as light as air

I bought myself a new toy.

It's for the sole purpose for me to surf the net and watch movies while I am lying on bed.

It's extravagant, I know. But the feeling is shiok!

imovie 09 rocks!

Just upgraded my imac to ilife 09 and the imovie 09 software rocks! It's incredibly easy to use and it's go so many little themes and features that will make any video look professionally done! Anyway, I spent some time earlier this week to do up a video for my trip to Cambodia last Dec. Here it is:

My Newest Toy

This is the Nokia E51 non-camera. All the functions of a typical 3G phone, WITHOUT THE CAMERA! Yay! Plus, it's one of the slimmest 3G phones in the market. I hate those slide or flip phones. oh... I think I have to address the mug of Asahi propping up the phone. Went to this Jap BBQ restaurant, Gyu Kaku, on Saturday. And that's where the beer was ordered.

The restaurant is known for their Wagyu beef. Curious to know what Wagyu beef was, (I've seen it pop up a few times including in an advertisement for Pan Pacific Hotel for a all-you-can-eat meat buffet) I Wiki-ed it:

Wagyu (和牛 wagyū?) refers to several breeds of cattle genetically predisposed to intense marbling and to producing a high percentage of oleaginous unsaturated fat.

Then further down the article, it says that the cattle even feeds on beer and sake!! Woa! Imagine, going to a farm in Japan and seeing a herd of drunken cows grazing in the fields. Gives a whole new meaning to Mad Cow.

Anyway, my dining companions don't take beef, so I didn't order it. Oh, and Wagyu beef is pretty expensive too. Think I'll only go there when I'm feeling rich.

price of rice goes up, price of apple goes down

These days, prices of everything seem to be heading up north. Rice and petrol have hit all time highs. But Apple has dropped their prices for iMacs. TMD! It was $2048 when I bought mine on 1st December. But now, it's going for $1888! And it's an 'improved' version of the iMac, according to the Apple website. Argh.... I am so angry.

Why can't Apple decrease the price of the item I want to buy (iPod Touch, 32GB, for those of u who wanna surprise me) instead of the item which I have already bought?!?!?

I should just spend my money on Rolexes and Vuitton. At least their prices won't drop.

My last Saturday

Went to the Greek Masterpiece Exhibition from the Lourve Museum today. The exhibition is touring the world coz the Lourve is under renovation. So it's a once in a lifetime chance to see it in Singapore. Beautiful pieces on display. It's amazing how something as solid as marble brought to life. The most amazing was how the sculptors managed to make cloth not look solid but fluid and flowing. And also the graceful curves of the body, especially the nape of the neck.

5 more days to go and I don't feel any excitement. Bought myself a Canon Ixus 860i in preparation for the trip. Getting a camera also means that I can rely on myself to provide pictures for this blog! Yay!

Given quite a bit of thought before buying this camera. Pay $669 in established electrical shops like Best Denki or Harvey Norman or pay $600 in a small independent electronic shop called Parisilk in Holland V? Only difference is that for $69 more, I could get a whole lot of stuff that sounds good but I don't think I'll need it. (like a mini tripod). The only extra freebee that I want is the camera case.
In the end, I bought it in Parisilk, paid an extra $18 for a camera case, took the $51 I saved and blew it on a dinner at Da Paolo. Had the heavenly Caprese for starter (fresh tomatoes and mozzarella), the teeth staining squid ink spaghetti for mains and washed it down with an italian red. On the whole this Saturday was fulfilling!

Go Japanese. It's cheaper.

Whoever said that Japan is an expensive country is grossly misinformed. HL just told me that the Canon IXUS 860 I'm eyeing retails for 32,000yen about SGD$400. In Harvey Norman, it's $669. $600 if I buy it in Sim Lim. Still cannot match Japan.

Then Ying and Keli just came back from Japan and said that a bag in Agnes b that costs $400 here would be half that in Japan Agnes b. Woah! I'm so going Japan this year... HL watch out!

I Heart Mac

Recently bought an iMac. It's gorgeous! I'm a convert. It's like how people discover a really cool restaurant or brand and want to tell all their friends about it? I wanna stand on top of a mountain and preach the goodness of switching to a Mac!!

So, why spend $2048 on a Mac if I am not going to fully utilise its features? So I volunteered to do the video presentation for the Cambodia Mission Trip I went to in December. Many many hours
later and $55 poorer (from buying Quicktime Pro), I've come up with the video. So wanna know what I did in Cambodia? Watch and enjoy.
