Linen vest

Japanese men can get away with anything. Plucked eyebrows, skin tight jeans, permed hair. This gentleman here rocked his linen vest. Perfect accessory for layering in Singapore's hot weather. Now, where do I get me one?

Hot meal on a hot day

A colleague from Shenzhen was in our office for a week. "I want to have a taste of the local cuisine" he said when we asked where he wanted to go for lunch.

So after some thought (I emphasize on some thought for if we have thought harder, we won't have brought him to eat spicy food in 35 degree weather), we brought him to a nasi padang stall at Circular Road.

It was a feast! We chowed on beef rendang, green curry chicken, long beans, sweet potato leaves, ikan bilis and potato balls! Practically very thing was spicy. Perspired buckets but I must say it was almost worth it coz the food was sedap and our guest had his taste of the local cuisine.

Yay or Nay?

It's part of taking public transport. Having people blatantly making out in front of you. But I've noticed that this occurs more often on the trains than on the bus. It can range from the cute, I once saw 2 people sitting opposite me passing M&Ms to each other orally, to the in-your-face making out. Can 2 people be so eager to get into each other's pants that they are oblivious that they are intruding into our space too?

It's the best burger!

It's one of those moments when I've discovered something good and I wanna share it with the world!

It was the BFB. 2 beef patties, steaky bacon, 1 egg, edam cheese, all sorts of vegetables & Berg's secret sauce!

Everything was a match made in heaven! The juiciness of the beef, the sharpness of the edam cheese, aroma of bacon. My mouth is watering as I'm typing this. And who would have thought to put beetroot in a burger? It provided just the right amount of sweetness to this savory burger!

Just one teeny tweeny complain: the bottom bun was soggy.. probably from the water in the veggies. If this were fixed, the burger would truly be the best I've had.

Oh... don't forget the fries! Golden, plump, crispy and salty. Just perfect!

If I were rich

Got the prints in London. If I were rich, I would get the original silk screen. But for now, I gotta settle for the prints.

Colour mesh up

Orange top. Pink bra. Yellow bag. What I really don't get is the bright red - and sparkling - bow on her hair.

GQ says hair-raised up is in

According to GQ, men's hair that is styled high is the in thing. I know that look. And it's a look that works for me. Problem is that my fine hair is not obedient and it usually ends up like this.

The secret, according to GQ is blow drying and pomade.

Now, I've been blow drying and holding it back with clay and a lot of other stuff but it doesn't seem to work! All that 'super-hard' and 'long-keep' words on the styling products I have are just BS.

So what is this magical product called pomade and where do I get it?

What is an everyday thing to us is a source of fascination to others - like Teh Tarik.

What I like about this picture, taken from my humble 1 mega pixel iPhone camera, is the dreamy effect of the sunlight shining through the trees.

I'm personally not a big fan of Teh Tarik. It's usually way too sweet. But I like the richness and creaminess of a perfectly Tarik-ed cup of Teh. Haven't had a good cup in a long time...

Food at work

I'm quite intrigued by my colleague's choice for breakfast and how he chooses to eat it. Quaker oats with chicken seasoning, served in a large tupperware and eaten with a plastic spoon.

Lesson learnt: don't settle for a short queue at Maxwell market. The Kway Chap has gotta be the worst I've eaten. Next time I'm there, I'm queueing 20 mins for the famous fish porridge.

And then: in the middle of my meal at Maxwell, I hear the sound (noise) of drums and cymbals. I turned my head and a Lion was staring straight at me.

I don't get why drummers are patrolling in Vivocity.

It just adds to the din.

Went to the Chia's last night. Ta Baoed some hawker food up there to chill out.

It's a beautiful house complete with a walk in wardrobe and entertainment room! We were kinda like the dudes in the Carlsberg advertisement when we first got a tour of the house.

But my favourite part has gotta be this gallery of their lives.

Strawberry Cheesecake

For the Feb babies celebration, I decided that being the cell leader of a cell which has 6 members celebrating their birthdays in February, the least I could do was to buy them a cake. Tada:

Not the best cheesecake in the world. I think the cake has been sitting in the chiller for at least a day or two. The base of cookie crumbs was already soggy. Boo... Plus the strawberries were sour. On the plus side, the cheese cake filling was creamy and thick - but altogether not very memorable. 2.5 stars out of 5 for Swiss Bake's Strawberry Cheesecake.
