Always remember to take the tag

This gentleman in the train wore a new pair of jeans. So new that he forgot to tear the size tag off his jeans...

Singapore Airlines A380

This is not my first time on the A380. I have been on it once before with Emirates. Even though it was a short flight to Hong Kong, it's my first A380 experience with Singapore Airlines and I am still quite excited about it!
Food was great! Fruits were fresh, bread was warm, fish was not too salty.

When the plane was air borne, I walked around the cabin and noticed that the emergency exit seats were not taken. So I asked the cabin crew if I could swap seats and then planted myself on it. yay!
Best part about the A380, upon arrival in Hong Kong, the A380 dock was right next to the immigration counter! Just walked 1 minute to immigration. I remember walking and walking in the airport to immigration when I flew in on other aircrafts.

The beach at Nikoi

This being a private island, the beach is free of tourists! Perfect for relaxing and basically just stoning.
Beautiful clear blue waters and golden sand.

And at night, there's a bonfire!

Exploring Nikoi Island

The welcome drink that greeted us.

Spot the crab!

The rocky part of the island.

The concept is 'back to nature'.
No telephones in the room, no TV... The worst - no air conditioning.

The path to the room is a sand road.

But watch where you are walking coz you share the island with monitor lizards.

Getting to Nikoi Island

I spent some time in Nikoi Island. It's an island off Bintan. Getting there isn't the most pleasant of journeys.
It starts at Tenah Merah Ferry Terminal

Where it's a 1 hour ferry ride to Bintan.

Next is a 1 hour jeep ride. Bumpy and winding, this was the worst part of the journey.

Then we are greeted by this sign!

Following that is a half hour speed boat ride.

Then finally - Nikoi Island!

Waffles in CMPB

Waffles! I think it's slightly overpriced. Plus the ice cream isn't that fantastic.

weekday lunch at PS cafe

There're few things better than having a long leisurely lunch on a weekday with a friend. PS cafe is just the place to have do it. High ceilings, huge bouquets of fresh flowers... the afternoon vibe there is fantastic!

Lunch is pretty good too. Fried chicken sandwich with mushroom soup.

Garrett

My favourite is the caramel with almonds - also the most expensive one.
It's really sweet, a handful of Garrett popcorn goes a long way.

Welcome to the world!

Baby Gil came into the world on 24 May02:23am, weighting 2.88kg.

feasting coz someone's in town - dinner

Then it's dinner time and we brought him to Bedok 85!

It was quite a long journey there and none of us stay near there! But food was good.

Ba Chor Mee, soup style. Nice noodles, tasty soup, springy pork balls with tender minced pork. Yum!

BBQ chicken wings never fail to delight me!

Sting ray!

and for dessert... XO durians! the best were the bitter ones, not the sweet ones. oh. lovely texture and fragrant flesh.

feasting coz someone's in town - lunch

A visitor come to town and we brought him out to lunch.

It's the best of Singapore: Tian Tian Chicken Rice, Rojak, Popiah & Sugar Cane!

Well worth the 15 minute walk to Maxwell!

Udders

I can't believe I haven't had an entry on my favourite ice cream.

It's udders!! Smooth, creamy, rich ice cream. Yum! These 2 are my favourite - hazelnuts and awesomely chocolate!

They never fail to pick me up!

Ruyi at Changi T1

Awful.

I think it isn't representative of Singapore's cuisine.

Terrible beef noodles. Too oily, noodles that were starchy, beef that was chewy and tasteless.

Worse was the dessert. Watery red bean paste with a few lumps of dumplings.

Totally unsatisfying meal.

Teochew Mueh

Fabulous!

Good old comfort food. Salty duck, warm watery porridge and lots of other old school stuff at the Amoy Street Market.
